Fox Family In Their Cozy Underground Den Coloring Page

An adult fox and one kit inside a stone den, the back wall built from overlapping scales, with oversized blooms crowding every edge.

Two foxes hold the middle of a stone chamber. The adult sits upright facing out with its tail curled around to one side, and a single kit is tucked in against its flank, that one with its own tail wrapped over its feet.

The back wall is the unusual part. Rather than rough rock it has been drawn as rows of overlapping rounded scales, each filled with its own grain lines, so the chamber reads more like the inside of a shell than a burrow. Two long cracked slabs meet in a point overhead to frame the opening, and the floor is strewn with small pebbles and leaf shapes.

Outside the den the border is crowded with oversized blooms, layered petals, veined leaves, berries and a few beaded stems, packed tight enough that no paper is left bare at the edges. The effect is a bright window cut through a thicket.

This is a long sheet. Treat the three zones separately, warm on the animals, neutral on the wall, anything you like in the flower border, and stop between them rather than trying to finish in one sitting. A fox den is properly called an earth, and a good one gets reused by generations of vixens, extended each season until it runs to several chambers and more than one bolt hole.
