The two animals sit shoulder to shoulder on an otherwise empty page, each turned slightly toward the other. The fox takes the left, its brush curled around behind it. The rabbit is on the right, up on its haunches with one front paw lifted toward its companion.
Both are drawn in the same friendly shorthand: almond eyes filled solid, a small curved smile, tufted cheeks on the fox and long whiskers on the rabbit. Those ears stand nearly as tall again as the rabbit's body, and each carries an inner line marking the paler lining. A small round tail sits behind it, drawn as a scribbled puff. Three sprigs of grass are the only scenery on the sheet.
Large open areas and no fine detail make this a fast one to finish. Contrast is the thing to aim for, because the two bodies touch along their whole edge and will merge into a single shape if you give them the same tone.
Out in a field this friendship would not survive the afternoon, though a rabbit is better equipped than it looks. Its eyes sit far enough around the skull to take in almost a full circle at once, without it ever having to turn its head.
