There is no background at all here, only the fox. It sits on blank paper with its tail curling up behind it, drawn in the rounded style children recognize immediately: big head, short muzzle, small body, everything softened.
The eyes do most of the work. Both are filled solid with two white highlights left inside each one, a large and a small, set under fine arched brows and a short fringe of lashes. A tuft stands up on the forehead, each ear holds a puff of fur, and a ruff interrupts the line of the chest. The mouth is a short upward curve below a rounded nose.
The tail is nearly as big as the body, drawn as a single unbroken shape with no lines inside it, and all four paws are simple rounded pads.
When there are this few lines the color choice is the entire picture, which makes this a good sheet for trying something other than orange. Purple, teal or plain gray all hold up because nothing else on the page argues with them. Leave the eyes as they are. Those two white marks are what make the face look alive, and running a pen across them shuts it down.
