The coat is the reason to print this page. Short upright strokes of roughly equal length cover the animal from the brow to the haunch in one even field, with no long straggling hairs and no smooth bare patch anywhere on it. Along the top of the back and down the front of the chest those strokes run off the edge and break the outline slightly, so the silhouette reads as standing pile instead of a clean curve. The plush nap the breed is known for has been drawn here rather than left to the title.

The animal sits up in a three quarter turn, facing left. Both ears point upward, the near one carrying a fold line down the inside and the far one tucked just behind it. One eye shows, a large oval filled dark with a white highlight, and long fine whiskers reach forward from a small nose. A front paw rests on the ground with toe lines scored across it, and a round fluffy tail sits back at the hip.

Tall grass blades run in a band across the lower third of the sheet, some in front of the animal and some behind, with small rounded pebbles scattered among the stems. Above that band the background is left completely bare.

Follow the direction the coat strokes already run when you work on it. Cutting across them flattens the texture out.
