Baby Giraffe With a Long Neck Coloring Page

A giraffe calf stands side on and faces right, and the neck does exactly what a giraffe neck should do on a page this shape: it runs almost the full height of the sheet and carries the head up into the top corner.

Every patch on the coat is an outline with nothing inside it. That is the whole point of the design. There are perhaps twenty of them, large and rounded and spaced well apart, scattered down the neck and across the body and thinning out toward the legs. Each one is a small enclosed area, which makes this an unusually good sheet for practicing staying inside a line without the frustration of a tiny shape.

A short mane runs down the back of the neck as a ruled strip, two little horns sit on top of the head with a round knob on each, and the tail ends in a tuft.

The obvious approach is one color for the patches and a paler one for the coat between them. The less obvious one is better: vary the patches, going deeper toward the legs and lighter up the neck. It takes no more time and it gives the animal roundness that a flat two-tone version does not have.

The four hooves are the only other enclosed shapes and they look good left dark.
