Nothing anchors this page at the bottom. The wisteria hangs straight down from the top edge, wide and dense where it starts and narrowing into thin trailing strands that stop about two thirds of the way down. Near the top the flowers are large and open, five rounded petals each with a starburst at the throat, and there are perhaps thirty of them packed together. As the cluster descends those blooms shrink into small closed buds stacked like grains along a stem. That change in scale is the whole design, and it hands you an obvious gradient: strongest color where the petals are biggest, fading to almost nothing at the tips. Real wisteria runs violet through to white, so one hue in four dilutions will look right and takes less thinking than a full palette. The empty paper on either side is not an oversight, it is where the single drifting petals fall, and leaving it bare keeps the cascade looking like it is moving. Curled corner flourishes and a small spray along the bottom edge finish the frame.
