Sunflower Field With Decorative Scrollwork Border Coloring Page

Seven sunflowers stand under a tall arch, their heads at varying heights and the largest almost dead center. Each head sets a wide ring of pointed petals around a seed disk drawn as dense stipple, and those disks are the only heavily textured areas on the sheet. Big heart shaped leaves crowd the lower third along with several thick stems. The frame is elaborate: a ruled double border, sweeping scrollwork down all four sides, spiral rosettes scattered through it and a dark winged motif in each corner. Those corners come largely solid already and need nothing from you. This page has two quite different halves and benefits from being treated that way. The flowers want warmth and can take yellow, orange and brown straight from the box without much deliberation. The frame wants restraint, because it is busy enough that more than two colors in it will fight the sunflowers for attention. Leave the seed disks until last. They are stippled rather than outlined, so a colored pencil dragged lightly across them picks up that texture in a way no marker can reproduce.
