A long wagon float rolls across this page on four big spoked wheels, its sides left as plain panels and its top rail trimmed with a thick run of flowers. Three children stand up on the deck waving, and an arch of blossoms curves over their heads. A banner flies from a pole at the back of the float, completely blank. Along the roadside, a boy stands with his back to you watching it pass, two more children look on behind him, and another waits on the far side. Two round headed trees close the scene at either edge.
The wheels are the strongest shapes on the page. Four identical hubs with spokes radiating out, which makes them the obvious place to repeat a color and tie the drawing together.
The banner is empty on purpose. Whatever this parade is for is your child's decision.
The boy in the foreground is drawn from behind with no face at all, which turns out to be useful: he is the easiest figure on the sheet and a good place for a younger sibling to start.
Float comes from exactly what it sounds like. The earliest ones were barges on rivers, and the name stayed when the parade moved onto land.
