Three sandcastles with paper flags sit below a striped umbrella, with shells and a scattering of pebbles nearby.

Three sandcastles line up across the front of this beach, each built as a simple mound with a stepped notch cut into one shoulder and a small paper flag on a stick at the top. A striped umbrella leans over them from the right, its canopy split into panels that alternate around the rim.
Behind the castles the sea runs in flat horizontal bands, drawn as long wavering lines rather than crested waves, which keeps the horizon calm and easy to fill. A sun with straight spoke rays sits high on the left, and two gulls glide beneath it.
The lower strip is where the detail lives. Scallop shells, a clam, a few smooth pebbles and a set of bird tracks press into the sand, and each one sits far enough from its neighbors to color separately.
This is one of the more open pages in the seasons set. Large closed regions, few overlaps and thick outlines make it comfortable for ages four to seven, and the umbrella panels give an older child an obvious place to try a repeating pattern.
