Snow-capped peaks rise behind a waterfall that drops down a rock face and lands in a wide lake filling the bottom half of the sheet. A pair of pine trees stand on the near shore and gentle ripple lines spread out from where the water hits. The drawing keeps to bold, uncomplicated outlines with large areas to fill, so it works well for children around five to nine, and it is a good one to hand to a whole classroom at once.
A useful lesson hides in this page. The lake should not be the same blue all the way across. Suggest coloring the water pale where it is close to the falls and deepening it toward the front edge of the paper, and the lake will suddenly look like it has depth. Leave the snow on the peaks as bare white paper rather than coloring it gray.
Mountain lakes fed by falls like this are often startlingly clear, because the water arrives cold and carries very little sediment. Some are so clear that you can see the bottom twenty or thirty feet down.
