Everything about this page is built to feel enormous. A broad horseshoe of water curves across the sheet, the crest broken into dozens of separate ribbons, and a bank of mist boils up from the gorge below and softens the lower third of the drawing. Look for the tiny railed viewing platform on the near bank, which the artist added to give the falls their scale. The line work is dense and the mist is drawn as fine swirling hatching, so give this one to a confident colorist.

Mist is the interesting problem to solve. Resist outlining it. Instead, work a very light gray over the hatched areas and leave the paper bare at the middle, then build your strongest color only at the edges of the picture. That contrast is what makes the middle read as vapor. Soft pastel or a light touch with colored pencil beats marker here, because markers will flatten the gradient.

Niagara is not especially tall by world standards. Its reputation comes from sheer volume, with more than 600,000 gallons of water going over the crest every second, and that volume is what throws the permanent cloud of spray you can see from a long way off.
