Two mushrooms stand together here, and they are deliberately not the same. The one on the left is short and broad, with a low rounded cap and visible gills beneath it. Its neighbor is taller, with a pointed cap carrying a scatter of open circles and a few more running down the stem. Grass runs along the ground between and around them. The contrast is the lesson. Giving the pair two different palettes teaches a child something about how color separates objects, and the two caps are far enough apart on the page that neither bleeds into the other. A warm cap beside a cool one makes both look brighter than either would alone. There is a second, quieter use for this sheet. Because the two mushrooms differ in height, build and markings, it works as a spot the difference prompt for a younger child before any coloring starts. Count the spots on each cap and the page has already earned its keep.
