Mushrooms Under A Fern Leaf Coloring Page

A fern frond arches over this page on a long central stalk, its leaflets stepping out in pairs along either side. Beneath it, two mushrooms stand close together, sheltered without being touched. A line of ground runs across the lower part of the sheet with grass growing up at the edges. Each leaflet on the fern is a separate closed shape, and there are a lot of them. Working along the frond from the base to the tip, shifting slightly in tone as you go, turns what could be a repetitive job into the best part of the page. Keep the mushrooms underneath lighter than the fern above them and the sense of shade falls into place on its own. Ferns and fungi really do grow together on a damp forest floor, so this page is more botanically honest than most. A cool green palette suits it, though the line art carries any color you put on it.
