A bee hovers in the air just above a spotted mushroom cap, wings open and antennae curling forward. Its body carries bands running around it, each one left open so the stripes can be colored in properly rather than filled solid. The wings are large clear ovals. Below, the mushroom stands on a straight stem with grass at its foot and a scatter of circles across the cap. Stripes are the obvious draw. Yellow and black is the expected answer and it looks right, but the bands are wide enough to take any alternating pair, and a child who wants a blue bee should have one. The wings are worth leaving almost untouched. A very pale wash or nothing at all keeps them looking transparent, and coloring them solid is the one thing that will make the bee look wrong. Two subjects at different heights also give this page more movement than the single mushroom sheets.
