Butterfly Migration Through A Forest Coloring Page
Two bark textured trunks frame a clearing where one large butterfly leads six smaller ones past drifting swirls and a deep band of forest flowers.

Two tall trunks stand at either edge of this page, their bark broken into long tapering strips that run the full height of the sheet. Between them opens a clearing, and the migration passes straight through it.
One butterfly dominates the middle. Its wings are spread flat and divided into cells by heavy veins, with a row of small ovals following each outer edge. Six more travel around it at different sizes and angles, some tilted almost edge on, which is what gives the group its sense of movement.
The air between them carries loose spirals and curls drawn in a lighter weight than anything else on the sheet. Those spirals take a pale wash well, and leaving them nearly untouched is what keeps the larger insect forward of its background.
Flowers crowd the lower quarter and reach up both sides: round daisy heads, layered blooms with many narrow petals, trumpet shapes on thin stalks, and broad leaves pushing in from the bottom corners.
Because the trunks, the flower bed and the swirls each sit at a different depth, choose three tonal levels before you begin. Keep the flowers strongest, the bark in the middle, and the swirls faintest of all.
