Bold thick rays in two ranks with hollow eye shapes cut into them, better with markers than pencils.

Bold thick rays make up this sun, arranged in two ranks of unequal length so the outline alternates between long points and short ones. Each ray carries a hollow eye or leaf shape cut into it, some pointed and some rounded, and the line weight everywhere is heavy enough that the design holds up at a distance. At the middle sits a rosette of small petals enclosing a plain heavy circle with a second circle inside it. There is no shading, no hatching and no fine detail anywhere on the sheet, and the sun stands on open white paper with no border. Simplicity at this scale is a real advantage. The hollow shapes inside the rays are large enough to take a second color each, which means you can build a two tone pattern around the whole sun without any delicate work at all. Markers suit this page better than pencils do. A strong earth palette of rust, ochre and black matches the style, but the drawing is bold enough to survive any scheme you care to try on it.
