Three things are happening at once on this sheet, and they are easy to tell apart, which is why it works for a beginner even though it does not look plain.

The first is the flower at the very center: a small open circle with a ring of slim pointed petals around it, then a second ring of broader ones. The second is a chain, drawn much darker than anything else, that loops around that flower in six segments. Each segment is a pointed leaf shape linked to the next by a narrow bridge, and the darkness makes it read as a necklace laid over the design.

The third is the outer layer, six large open petals with softly curled tips, and these are the most generous shapes on the page.

Filling the gaps between all of it is a scatter of loose spirals and curls, some tight, some barely a comma.

That dark chain is your anchor. Decide its color first, because whatever you choose there will dominate. Then keep the big outer petals light so the contrast stays. The spirals in between are small, and leaving most of them white is a legitimate choice rather than a shortcut.
