Sunrise Mandala With Mountain Silhouette Background Coloring Page

This is the only sun mandala in the group with a landscape inside it. A ring of pointed petals encloses a scene: a range of mountains with hatched slopes, a sun climbing behind the tallest peak with straight rays fanning up from it, a lake below drawn in long horizontal strokes, and a row of fanned lotus shapes across the foreground. Outside the ring, a corona of ornamental leaf rays spreads out to form the mandala proper, and four small ornaments sit in the corners of the sheet on short diagonal stems. Two different logics are at work here and they need different handling. The landscape wants naturalistic color, warm in the sky, cooler in the water, dark in the mountains, and it will look wrong if you force a decorative scheme onto it. The surrounding corona wants the opposite: flat, repeating, unnatural color that reads as pattern. Keeping those two separate is the whole job, and the ring of petals between them is a natural place to change gear.
