Simple Sun Mandala With Petal-shaped Rays Coloring Page

The plainest sun in the set: forty large regions, no hatching, and twenty minutes from start to finish.

This is the plainest sun in the set and it was drawn that way deliberately. Sixteen large petal shaped rays spread out from the middle in one clean ring, and inside them sits a second ring of sixteen smaller petals, each a simple pointed oval with a single line following its outline just within the edge. At the center is a small fluted circle. That is the entire drawing. There are perhaps forty regions in total and not one of them is smaller than a thumbnail, with no hatching, no stipple, no border and a great deal of bare paper all around. Anyone can finish this in twenty minutes, which is exactly the point. It works as a first page for someone returning to coloring after an illness, as a page for an unsteady hand, and as a quick warm up before starting something demanding. Because the shapes are so large, this is also the best sheet here for practicing a blend, since a graded wash running from the tip of a petal down to its base has real room to develop.
