Broad, smooth petals sweep out in three tiers here, each one carrying a single curved vein and nothing more. Between the tiers sits a starburst ring of short pointed petals that frames an empty white circle at the middle. The outermost petals run past the left and right edges of the sheet, which crops them and pushes the flower forward.
With so few internal lines, this one suits anyone who prefers blending to detail work. Colored pencils shine on shapes this size. Lay a light base over a whole petal, then build a second pass from the tip inward so the color deepens toward the middle and the flower gains depth. Watercolor pencils work too, though print on heavier stock first.
Soft pinks and corals read as the most natural choice. For something less expected, run a cool teal through the outer tier and a warm peach through the inner one, letting the starburst ring stay the brightest note on the page.
Lotus leaves repel water so completely that droplets bead up and roll off, carrying dust with them. Engineers gave the trick a name, the lotus effect, and copied it into self cleaning paint and fabric.
