Geometric Mandala With Complex Triangles And Hexagons Coloring Page

Heavy angular blades radiate from a burst middle in thick brush strokes, with narrow white channels running between them.

This one is drawn with a loaded brush rather than a pen. The strokes are thick and tapering, they radiate from a small burst at the middle, and they build into angular blades, arrowheads and bracket shapes that stack outward in three or four tiers before reaching a ring of tall pointed panels at the rim. Because the black takes up so much of the surface, what is left to color are the narrow white channels running between the strokes, and that inverts the usual job: instead of filling shapes you are tinting the gaps. It works surprisingly well. A single strong color pushed through all the channels turns the black into a stained glass lead line, and two colors alternating by tier gives the design a sense of rotation. What will not work is a pale wash, which vanishes against so much ink. Despite the word complex in the title there are not many separate areas here, so this is a quicker page than it first appears and suits markers better than pencils.
