A softly drawn butterfly anchors this design, its rounded wings almost bare inside, marked only by a few long curved lines and a teardrop near each wing base. Behind it a pointed rosette opens outward, spikes reaching toward the corners of the sheet. Small five-pointed stars tuck into the spaces where the wings meet that rosette, and curling scrollwork winds through the background. A round medallion sits directly above the head and another below the body, each ringed by concentric circles.
Empty room inside the wings makes this one of the easier mandalas in the collection.
Use it deliberately. Those wings are large enough to take a smooth blend from one color to another, which is hard to pull off on a busier page. Work light to dark from the body outward, then hold the stars and scrollwork in a single accent color so they stay legible against whatever the background becomes. The two medallions can echo that accent to close the composition top and bottom.
