Seventeen follows the same rule as most of the teens, a 1 followed by the digit you can hear in the word, so ask your child to find the seven before anyone reaches for a crayon. By this point in the set most children can do that without help, which is worth pointing out to them. The 7 is also the easiest digit in the whole set to write, a flat bar and one long diagonal with nothing curved to control, so this page is a good one for a child who has been struggling with the loops in 6, 8 and 9. Let them trace the 7 a few times and finish on something they can do well. The number is drawn very large across the sheet as two open bubble outlines with nothing else on the page, so there is plenty of white space and no detail to fight with.
