Three donuts sit one on top of another in a single tall stack. The top one is tilted toward you so you can see straight down into its hole, and its glaze carries a scatter of small oval sprinkles. The two below are seen more from the side, so what shows is the wavy lower edge of each glaze and the rounded body of the donut underneath it. A few sprinkles catch on the middle one. The stack fills the height of the page with nothing behind it and no ground line underneath, which keeps the focus on the shapes. Line weight here is lighter than on the simpler sheets in this set, so colored pencil suits it better than a thick marker. The stack is the reason to print this one. Three identical objects in a column are an invitation to try three variations of the same idea. Run one color darker on each donut as you go down, or give each layer a different glaze and keep the cake part the same throughout. Children who are learning to stay inside a line often do better on a vertical stack than on a single object, because each band gives them a clear stopping point.
