Donut Tower on a Cake Stand Coloring Page

Four donuts are piled into a tower on a cake stand. The top one is tilted toward you with sprinkles scattered across it, and the three below show their wavy glaze edges in profile as the stack steps down. The stand underneath does most of the decorative work. Its plate has a scalloped rim, its stem narrows to a waist and its foot flares out in a fan of long curved flutes. A ribbon is tied around the stem in a proper bow, with both loops and both tails drawn out clearly. The whole arrangement runs top to bottom down the middle of the page with clean paper on either side. This is the celebration sheet of the set. It suits a birthday, and it reads as a cake without being one. The bow is the obvious place to start, because it is the only small closed shape on an otherwise large drawing and it takes a bright color well. The flutes on the foot work the same way as the stripes on an awning. Alternate two shades across them and the stand looks turned from china. Leave them white and the donuts on top do all the talking.
