This one is a building rather than a snack. A shop front faces the street with a wide striped awning stretched across the top, its scalloped valance hanging below in a row of even bumps. Brick courses run up the wall on both sides, drawn as neat staggered rectangles. The window fills the center, and behind the glass five long shelves run the full width, each one holding a row of ring donuts seen end on. Count them and there are close to forty. A panelled door stands on the left with a round knob, and a course of paving runs along the bottom edge of the page. Every surface here is a pattern, which is what makes it a long sit down project. The awning stripes alternate. The bricks repeat. The shelves repeat. A colorist who enjoys rhythm will fill the awning in two colors, run the brick in one warm tone and then spend most of their time on the donuts, giving each shelf its own flavor. Younger children usually skip straight to the donuts and leave the building white, which still looks deliberate. Print this one at full size. Reduced, the brick courses close up.
