Open Bible With a Candle Coloring Page

An open bible is the central symbol of bible literacy, and this sheet places one large and flat on the page alongside a single candle, two objects that together evoke both reading and light. The pages spread wide and fill most of the width of the sheet, so there are two generous areas to treat differently: the lined text page on the left gives a child a series of short horizontal stripes to color or leave white, while the right page has a small outlined star above hills that can take a night sky treatment. The candle stands in a plain round holder to the right, its flame drawn as a large clean teardrop that rewards a bright yellow or orange. Children in Sunday school often use this sheet during a lesson on scripture memory or during Advent when candles feature in worship. The composition is intentionally simple, with no clutter between the three main shapes, the two page spreads and the candle. It suits coloring during a reading-aloud session, since the large clear areas do not demand close attention and children can listen while they work.
