Letter X Is for Xylophone Coloring Page

X is the letter with the fewest words behind it, and this sheet takes the usual way out with a toy xylophone, drawn from above with a row of bars resting on a simple frame. A hollow capital X and a hollow lowercase x sit above it, and they are the same shape at two sizes, two straight diagonals crossing in the middle. That makes X quick to draw and easy to recognise, which is just as well because children meet it far less often than most letters and usually learn it last. The xylophone is the better part of the page. Its bars are separate closed shapes lying in a row, and children almost always colour them in a rainbow order without being asked, which turns a letter page into a colour sequencing exercise. Each bar is left completely blank so there is nothing to work around. Print it for an alphabet unit, for a music topic, or as one of the pages that finally makes the end of the alphabet feel achievable.
