Letter N Is for Narwhal Coloring Page

A hollow capital N and a hollow lowercase n run across the top of this page, and a narwhal swims below with its long spiral tusk pointing forward. N is worth practising carefully because the capital and the lowercase look less alike than children expect. The capital is two upright posts joined by a diagonal that runs corner to corner. The lowercase drops one post and replaces the diagonal with a single arch, which makes it a near twin of the lowercase h from this same set with the tall stem cut short. Comparing the two pages side by side is a quick way to sort that out. The narwhal is the draw here. Its tusk is drawn as a long straight spiral with twisted ridges, which gives a child a genuinely different thing to colour from the round bodies elsewhere in the set, and the body itself stays smooth and open.
