Turkey Sitting on a Giant Pumpkin Coloring Page

An enormous pumpkin fills the bottom half of this page, drawn with five broad ribs and a stem that curls off to one side. A cheerful turkey sits on top of it, wings held out to steady itself, feather fan spread behind its head and small feet gripping the surface. There are only two shapes on the sheet and both are large, which makes it one of the easier designs in this set.

Here is a chance to teach warm against cool. Take the pumpkin somewhere expected in the orange family, then push the turkey the other way into browns with a hint of blue or green in the feathers. The two subjects separate instantly, even though they touch. The ribs also give you five long panels to shade from light at the edges to darker in the grooves if you want the pumpkin to look round rather than flat.

Giant pumpkins really do get this big. Competitive growers regularly pass a ton with varieties bred for size, feeding a single fruit on one vine all season, and the record holders have to be moved with a forklift.
