A cat sitting upright in profile, facing left, with its tail curled around in front of its paws. Two tall pointed ears, one visible eye, a small nose and a short smile. The whole animal is built from a handful of long clean curves.
The coat is left completely plain. That is the single most useful thing about this sheet, because a cat covered in fur strokes gives a young child nowhere to put a crayon without crossing a line. Here the body is one open shape that takes a single sweep of color, and children who want markings add their own stripes, a collar, white socks or a bib afterwards.
Black is the obvious choice for a Halloween cat and it is not the only good one. Ginger, cream and silver tabby all read correctly, and a child who picks orange has not got it wrong.
Profile view keeps the drawing honest. A cat facing you needs two matching eyes, and children notice immediately when their own coloring makes one bigger than the other. Turned to the side there is one eye and nothing to compare it against. The curled tail is the detail most kids color first.
