Spooky Jack-o-lantern With Angry Eyes Coloring Page
Slanted brows and a wide toothy grin give this carved pumpkin a real glare, without making the sheet hard to finish.

Angling the eyes is the only trick this pumpkin needs. Two long slanted shapes cut down toward the nose like eyebrows, each with a small dark pupil beneath it, and that alone reads as a glare on any face you draw it on. Below them a grin stretches almost the full width of the body, with blocky teeth stepping down from the top and up from the bottom. The rest of the sheet stays calm: a rounded body, five or six rib lines, and a short stem bent over at an angle. Older children usually want the spooky version, and this one hands it to them without demanding the fine motor control that a heavily patterned sheet does. Strong contrast is what makes the glare land. Push a deep tone into the ribs at both sides of the body and keep the middle panel light, so the face sits forward on a bright ground. Anyone who wants the lantern to look lit can leave every carved shape as untouched paper and add a soft yellow ring just outside each one.
