Simple Jack-o-lantern Coloring Page

This is the sheet most people picture when they think of a Halloween pumpkin, and it earns that place by being easy. The face uses four shapes and no more: two triangles for the eyes, one smaller triangle for the nose, and a long curved grin with a row of square teeth cut into it. None of those shapes arrive filled in, so a child colors the face rather than working around a solid block of black. Tall ribs curve down the body and split it into wide bands, which gives an older colorist somewhere to vary the tone without adding any fiddly detail. The stem leans to one side with a few short lines drawn along it. Try leaving the eyes, nose and grin as bare paper and putting the color only on the body. That single choice is what makes a carved pumpkin read as lit from inside, and it takes less work than filling everything. Crayons suit this one. The bands are wide, the outlines are thick, and nothing on the page is small enough to need a sharp point.
