A witch in a pointed hat rides her broom across the top of the page, cloak streaming behind her, with a gabled house and a full moon below. The line work is open and uncomplicated, and the witch is drawn large enough that her face, hands and buckled shoes are all easy to reach with a crayon. Suitable from about four upward.

The cloak is one long shape and it is the best part of this page to work on. Rather than filling it flat, suggest starting dark at the witch's shoulders and getting lighter toward the trailing end, which will make it look like it is moving. Purple with green is the traditional witch pairing and children tend to like it. The broom bristles deserve a scribbled yellow brown rather than a careful one.

Witches got their brooms from a real and rather odd piece of history. Brooms were an ordinary household object associated with women, and the flying came from folklore about ointments and night travel. The two ideas only merged into the single familiar image in artwork from around the fifteenth century.
