Black Cat Sitting On A Fence Under A Full Moon Coloring Page

A cat sits upright on the top rail of a wooden fence, tail curled around its feet, in silhouette against a large full moon. A few plain clouds cross the sky and the fence runs off both sides of the page. The whole thing is built from about a dozen large shapes, which makes it one of the easiest sheets in the Halloween set and a sensible choice for a four or five year old.

The obvious approach is to fill the cat solid black, and it does look striking. For something with more life in it, try very dark blue or deep purple instead, then leave two small white almonds for the eyes. It still reads as black from across a room but holds up close. The moon should stay pale, a hint of yellow at most, or the cat will lose its outline against it.

Black cats are unlucky in America but lucky in Japan and much of Scotland, and in the north of England one crossing your path has traditionally meant good fortune rather than bad. The superstition depends entirely on where you happen to be standing.
