Everything about this cookie is one shape. The head, the arms and the legs all come out of the same flat body, so there is no neck to color around and no sleeve edge to stay inside, just one wide outline with plenty of room in it.
Three round buttons run straight down the middle. They are drawn as open circles rather than filled dots, which means they take color like little windows and stay visible when the body around them is dark.
The icing is the detail worth slowing down for. A wavy band crosses each wrist and each ankle, four short zigzag runs in total, and they are the only fussy marks on the whole page. A child who finds those hard can color straight over them and nothing is lost.
Two dot eyes and one curved smile finish the face, with the rest of the head left completely empty. That blank forehead and those blank cheeks are deliberate. They give a young child somewhere easy to start, and they let an older one add freckles, flour dust or a scarf of their own invention.
