Twisted candy sticks run the full length of both roof slopes, each one drawn with its own diagonal stripes, and two more stand upright at the front corners of the house like barley sugar columns. Those stripes are what make this page look like candy rather than brickwork, and they reward anyone willing to alternate two colors along the twist.

Under the gable hangs a scalloped icing swag, a row of soft loops with a small curl drawn inside each one. Below it sit two square windows, each divided into four panes by a cross bar, and between them an arched door with a hexagonal knob and two small dots on the wall either side.

Snow gathers in soft mounds at the foot of both corner columns, and a long shallow curve of ground runs out behind the house to both edges of the sheet.

The contrast in detail is useful. The roof trim and the window panes are fiddly and suit pencils; the two wall panels and the door are wide and flat and take a crayon happily. One child can work the small shapes while another fills the big ones, and both finish at about the same time.
