The table itself is huge and completely blank apart from the puzzle, with two thick legs visible underneath. Leaving the wood pale keeps the puzzle in front. Staining it dark does the opposite and frames the whole thing. A few empty spaces are still missing from the grid, which gives you somewhere to leave white paper without it looking unfinished.
