The heading comes first on this one. Father's Day runs right across the top in a flowing brush script, and because those letters are printed solid they belong to the design rather than to the parts you fill in. Below them a man has fallen asleep in a deep armchair. His eyes are shut, a bushy mustache covers his top lip, and his head has tipped back against a cushion wedged into the corner of the chair. The chair is built from generous curves: two thick rolled arms, a tall padded back, a seat marked by one long seam, and two short stumpy legs at the front. An open newspaper lies spread across his lap, held loosely at each outer edge, its central fold running down the middle while the far corner flicks up. One leg crosses over the other so a single shoe rests flat on the floor and the raised foot shows its sole. No room, no window and no floor pattern appear behind him, only white paper. That leaves the armchair and the sleeper as the only real work on the sheet, and both are made of big forgiving shapes.
