The lamb lies with its front legs folded forward and its ears held straight out to the sides, looking directly at you. Its fleece is built from rows of overlapping scallops that cover the neck, back and haunch, and those rows are the reason to reach for pencils: shading alternate scallops a half tone darker turns a flat white body into something woolly. A small ring of blossoms rests on the crown of its head with one flower centered over the brow.
Grass fills the lower third in long crossing blades, and big open flowers press in from both bottom corners, each with a stippled center disk. The upper background turns looser and more playful, a scatter of spirals, small buds, a five pointed star and one long curling tendril at the right, which keeps much of the paper light.
Face detail runs fine around the eyes and nose, so work that area first while your pencil is sharp. Everything else forgives a wandering hand. The page suits Easter, a spring theme week or a farm animal set, and it prints to letter size without cropping the border.
