Marigold Garland Over A Doorway Coloring Page

A garland of marigolds curves over the top of a tall arched doorway and runs a short way down each side. Every flower is drawn the same way, a ring of rounded petals around a thick dark center, and small pairs of pointed leaves are tucked in along the string between them. Count them and there are more than twenty, which makes this the busiest sheet in the set even though no single shape on it is difficult. The doorway underneath is deliberately plain. Two upright posts, one high arch and nothing else, with the whole opening left as empty paper. A garland like this is called a toran, and it goes up over the front door before Diwali begins so the house is ready for visitors. The dark flower centers are already filled in for you, which gives the eye something to anchor on and leaves only the petals to work through. Marigolds are usually orange or deep yellow in real life, though nothing on the page insists on it. The blank arch is an invitation to draw whoever is standing in the doorway.
