One bear, drawn large, seated and facing the viewer with a Santa hat tipped over one ear. The intricate treatment shows in the fur, which is built from thousands of short directional strokes running the way the coat lies, and in a snowy background of drifts and falling flakes. Because it is a single subject rather than a scene, it makes a good detailed page for someone who finds crowded ones overwhelming.
A white animal on white paper is the interesting problem. Do not color the bear white. Leave it as paper and put the color into the shadows instead, pale blue and lavender under the chin, along the belly, and where the hat presses down on the head. The hat can then be a strong flat red, and the contrast between untouched fur and that one saturated shape is what makes the picture.
Polar bear fur is not actually white. Each hair is a hollow transparent tube, and the coat looks white for the same reason a cloud does, because the structure scatters every wavelength of light straight back at you.
