Two drawing styles share this sheet and they do not blend. The animal is rendered in long tapering strokes that follow its muscle, seen from slightly above with its jaws open and its pectoral fins thrown wide. Around it, the border is pure ornament: four corner sprays of curling leaves and flower heads, joined by a thin ruled frame.
The lower third belongs to the water, and the water is ornament too. Waves break into tight scrolls and spirals, bubbles cluster in loose strings, and blossoms sit among the foam where no real ocean would put them. It reads as decoration rather than a seascape, which is the point.
A useful approach is to settle the frame first. Pick two or three colors for the corner flourishes and repeat them in the wave scrolls, so the border holds together as a unit across the page.
That leaves the shark free to sit in its own range. A cool gradient down the back, a pale belly, and a dark eye and mouth will lift it clear of all that pattern.
The teeth are drawn large and well separated. They stay white.
No part of this one is quick. Set aside real time for it.
