A husky puppy has planted itself on a low bank of snow and is looking straight out at you. Both ears stand sharply upright with fine strokes running down the inside of each one, and the tail curls around to rest against the left hind leg.
The markings a husky carries across its forehead and around its eyes are printed here as open outlined regions rather than as filled shapes. That is the part worth planning before you begin, because those regions are what make the animal read as a husky once you have chosen your tones. The ruff around the chest comes to a soft point below the muzzle, and short tapered strokes run along the whole edge of the coat.
Snowflakes float across the upper half of the page, each drawn as a six armed outline with small circles scattered between them. Below the paws a few long contour lines suggest the rise and fall of the drift.
There is a lot of open paper on this sheet, which suits pencils worked in light layers. Try laying your palest tone across the whole body first, then coming back to deepen only the outlined mask regions and the tips of the ears.
