Here is the farm scene of the collection. A very round pig stands square in the doorway of a small barn, facing straight out at you, with the pitched roof and plank walls rising behind it and a few tufts of grass at the base of the building.
This sheet has the heaviest outlines of any page here. The pig is drawn with a thick confident stroke that will not disappear under marker, and its body is a single enormous oval left completely open. Both ears point up, the snout sits high with two nostril ovals, and one small curl of tail shows at the side.
The barn behind it is the interesting part to color. Its walls are broken into long vertical planks, so you can run one shade down every board, or alternate two shades plank by plank for a weathered look. A classic red barn behind a pink pig is the expected answer and it looks good, but a gray barn makes the pig stand out far more.
An oval shadow sits under the pig. Leave it white and the animal floats; fill it and the animal lands. Both are fine, and it is worth trying each.
