Penguin Leaping From An Ice Ledge Coloring Page

Right at the edge of an ice shelf, a round little penguin leans out over the sea below. Its flippers are lifted away from its sides and both feet are off the ice, caught in the instant before it drops into the water. The ice falls away beneath it in a long sweeping slab, and a few soft ripple lines mark the surface of the sea to one side. Almost everything on this sheet is left open. The penguin's body is one big uninterrupted shape, the ice is another, and the water is barely more than a handful of curving lines, so there is room for bold strokes without much careful work around small details. That makes it a forgiving page for children who are still learning to stay inside a line. Older children can push it further by shading the sea in deepening bands, leaving the penguin pale so it stands out against the water. Crayons, pencils and felt tips all sit well on it.
