A small cartoon penguin stands facing you dead center, and it is about as simple as a page in this collection gets. The body is one broad pear shape, and a second rounded outline inside it separates the pale front from the darker back and sides, so the whole bird comes down to two big areas and a few small ones.
The face is doing most of the work. Two large oval eyes each carry a big round pupil and a pair of highlight dots, with short lashes above them. A wide triangular beak sits between and just below, open at the bottom to show a small rounded tongue tip. A tuft of three feathers sticks straight up from the crown.
A bow tie sits at the throat, drawn as two triangular wings with a small knot in the middle and a short line scored across each side. Both flippers hang down along the body, and two feet with three rounded toes each show at the bottom.
There is no background whatsoever, no ground line and no shadow. That makes this one of the fastest sheets here to finish and a good first page for a very young child.
