A panda sits facing you with one front leg raised and the paw turned outward in greeting. That paw is drawn as an animal's: four small oval toe pads set in an arc above one large rounded pad, with no fingers and no thumb on it anywhere. Fur is suggested by short strokes along the edges and a light scatter across the chest, so the body itself stays almost completely open. The eye patches and the ears are outlined rather than filled, each eye sitting inside its patch with a bright highlight, and the nose is the only solid dark shape on the sheet. Both hind feet face forward at the bottom with their pads showing. Bamboo stands behind: two tall segmented canes past the right shoulder with sprays of narrow leaves, one shorter cane at the left, grass tufts along the ground.

Because those eye patches arrive unfilled, how dark the mask goes is your decision. A soft gray reads as fur where a flat black reads as a cartoon.

Take the bamboo in two tones, one for the canes and one for the leaves, and the panda will lift forward off the page.

No two giant pandas carry the same eye patches. Researchers match individuals from camera trap photographs on patch shape alone, and never have to touch the animal to do it.
