Barn Owl Perched On Fence Post Coloring Page
Bold open lines, a fence post and one round-eyed owl. Very little detail to get lost in, so a young child can finish it fast.

Almost nothing on this sheet is small. The owl is one clean teardrop shape with two soft tufts on top, and its face is a wide oval holding two big circles with solid pupils, split by a small triangular beak. A row of stitch-like ticks runs around the outside of the facial disc, and the only other marks are short V shapes scattered down the chest and a few curved lines suggesting each folded wing. Below, a plain fence post rises from the bottom edge with two long grain lines, and four toes curl over its flat top. There is a lot of white paper here on purpose. A three or four year old can cover the body with a single fat crayon and still feel like they finished something, and an older child can treat every chest V as its own tiny mark in a second shade. Owls hunt in near silence because the front edge of their wing feathers is fringed rather than sharp, which breaks up the sound of the air. Gray and buff suit the bird, but nothing stops a child making it lilac. The post is the one place a heavy brown looks right and anchors the whole page.
