A cartoon lion sits square to the viewer with both front paws planted side by side. Its mane is drawn as a ring of long pointed petals rather than shaggy fur, and a single curl of hair stands upright at the crown. Round ears show through gaps in that ring, each holding a small inner loop. The face keeps only what it needs: two filled oval eyes with short lashes, a rounded muzzle, a broad nose and three whiskers per cheek. A soft V of chest fur drops toward the belly, the back legs fold flat, and a thin tail slips out to the right and finishes in a leafy tuft.

Almost every shape here is large and closed, which makes this one of the friendlier lions in the collection for a young colorer. Nothing sits behind the animal, so the paper around it stays as open as you want.

Try giving the mane petals two alternating tones so the ring reads as depth instead of a flat halo. A warm gold on the outer petals with something deeper tucked behind them does the job, and the body can stay a single lighter shade. The paws and muzzle are small enough to take a third color without crowding the face.
